History of the Toilet Bowl
By Pat Mahlstedt
Who would have thought in 1974,
That we could expect, Oh! So much more?
The call went out for a gathering here,
Let’s play a game and then have a beer.
The colors they chose were Red and Blue,
And the friendships they formed, ‘who had a clue’?
The fifty yard line was the place to start,
And each played a game with joy in their heart.
Men, young and excited, just starting their lives,
A football game, and then lots of ‘high fives’.
A trophy, a trophy to the winner must go,
A Gold Toilet Bowl, through the years it would glow.
Thanksgiving Day was the day that it started,
And from those memories, we can never be parted.
The players come from far and from near,
They hold this ‘Game’ so very dear.
On Thanksgiving, the turkey and dressing are nice,
But on the ‘Toilet Bowl’ game, you can’t put a price.
Cheerleaders and crowds that grew every year,
And the Bloody Mary’s, for them give a cheer!
We’re missing a few of those original fans,
But they’re still watching this game from their Heavenly stands.
How is it possible, 35 years have past,
When they thought at the start, it would never last?
Now the young and excited have aged just a bit,
But for all of your fans, you created a hit. (And a bushel of kids)
Now these kids play their dads in the game every year,
And the folks on the sidelines must stifle a tear.
Thanksgiving Day for the Family and Friends,
Please tell me the ‘Toilet Bowl’ will never end.
